MLD's can usually get along with Black Gangster Disciples and other Folk groups in jail or in prison. Their longtime hated enemies are the Latin Kings. Chicago gangs have their own Constitutions and symbols. The Maniac Latin Disciples allegedly started out in the 1960's as a baseball team and later as a gang at Rockwell around Hirsch and Potomac, now called the "Twilight Zone". An early leader of this group was a crazy guy aptly named "Hitler" who was killed in the early 1970's by members of the Latin Kings. To this day the MLD's use the swastika to commemorate his death. The symbol is usually done backwards so as not to be confused with Aryan groups. They also use hooded monk figures in their murals and tattoos. Their colors are blue and black and they are sometimes found outside of the Chicago area.
